What’s Growing
We grow and preserve a lot of food. The plan for early/mid season 2026 is below!
The 75’x150’ garden is separated into four quadrants. On the left or North side, we have a variety of apple trees. These were among the first things we planted when we first bought the farm. The hedge along the left border is made up of red and black currants. Fun fact: the black currants LOVE our farm, the red currants are only lukewarm about it. We have very high clay content in our soils here which is a blessing, because it holds water… and a curse for plants that need to breathe, so we are experimenting with many varieties and plants to see what grows. The upper right quadrant contains 4’x12’ raised beds and the South border is the raspberry bed. This quadrant is intended to be the kitchen garden with fruits and veg, both annuals and perennials, but this year we are planting one bed of cutting flowers so we can get an idea of flowers we can grow with the skills and patience available to us, i.e. LIMITED. The fourth quadrant is for expansion, and since it only exists in my imagination, it is by far the most beautiful quadrant with a rose arbor and a stone paved dining area. You are going to love it!
